Italian Exchange
Three of our students (Sophie Ciardulli, Karli Battistella and Claire McManus) left on Thursday 29 November to travel to Cosenza, Italy, on the Partnership Program with our sister school 'Liceo Scientifico La Scorza' in Calabria.
They arrived in Cosenza on Friday night at about 9pm, after a 30-hour trip. Despite this, they were all excited and in very good spirits. The Italian students were all at the airport with the teachers welcoming our students and Ms Bottari, the accompanying teacher from Marcellin College.
They had the Welcoming Ceremony on Saturday morning at school, which went very well. The girls spoke about how happy they were to be at the school and at Cosenza with their host sisters and families.
On Monday the students attended a special presentation at the Cosenza Chamber of Commerce. The 'Extreme Energy Events – Science Inside Schools' is an initiative that Liceo Scientifico La Scorza is part of. It is a project based on the search for cosmic rays from the North Pole to Sicily, encouraging young people to become part of the research in this field. The Principal of La Scorza, Dotoressa Carla Savaglio, the Mayor of Cosenza and other notable people were present at this event.
