Embrace Faith

Catholic Social Teaching

As a school that is committed to justice, we participate in a number of social justice activities under the umbrella of Catholic Social Teaching.

Reflecting the charism of a Sionian education, Our Lady of Sion College aims to promote the spiritual, moral and academic formation of its students so that they develop into young women of faith, strength, ability and knowledge, and in turn that they provide leadership in the broader community as they actively seek to transform the world.

Our Mission and Vision statements call the Sion student to always be concerned with justice, truth, reconciliation and peace. An active engagement with issues of social justice provides the means by which this vision can be achieved.

Some of the Social Justice activities that the College supports include:

  • St Vincent de Paul Society, including the Ozanam House Outreach Program
  • Sion Christmas Hamper Collection
  • Annual SVDP Winter Sleepout
  • visits to Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation (MITA)
  • other fundraising activities.
